QUICK AND ACCURATE DETERMINATION OF MILLIMETRIC VALUES WITH WÜRTH CALIPERS

In metal construction and in the automotive industry, callipers are part of everyday work equipment. They quickly and precisely determine the inside and outside diameters of a wide variety of parts and sizes. From the diameter of the tube to the wear of the brake discs it is possible to determine reliable values - always assuming that one uses the appropriate feeler gauge for the respective working area. Würth offers a wide range of precision callipers as well as products specific to certain applications.

MAIN CHARACTERISTICS OF CALIPERS

In the professional sector there are a large number of different callipers, some of which have considerable differences in design and construction. Discover the main characteristics of these measuring instruments:

Material: Professional callipers are generally made of hardened stainless steel (inox) to prevent corrosion or abrasion. Such signs of wear can influence the measured values in the millimetre range.
Measurement accuracy: DIN 862 defines error limits for certain types of callipers. This is why the DIN 862 certified callipers are very popular because they offer comparable measurement accuracy.
Measuring range: The measuring range varies depending on the calliper application. For example, disc brake callipers have a measuring range of 0 to 50 mm, while the workshop callipers have a measuring range of up to 500 mm. The length of the spout also varies considerably depending on the application. Some models, such as compact pocket callipers, are available with different cutting lengths.
Specific callipers: Some applications require special measuring tools. For example, a long nose length brake disc callipers measures brake disc wear, while a depth callipers are used wherever the depth of a part needs to be measured.

DIGITAL CALIPERS: QUICK AND COMFORTABLE MEASUREMENT TO THE MILLIMETER

Digital callipers, similar to digital bubble levels, do not necessarily measure more accurately than the analogue version. Instead of reading measuring scales or the Vernier scale, the digital calliper displays measured values in mm or inches on the digital display. In addition, the measured data can be immediately transferred to construction plans or test reports via digital data output.

As a rule, calibrated measuring instruments are prescribed especially for official test reports. That is why Würth also offers digital callipers with calibration certificates, which can be used to document required measurement values according to regulations.
