THE CENTRE PUNCH, THE PERFECT TOOL FOR MARKING THE LOCATION OF A HOLE TO BE DRILLED

Do you have to drill a hole? To undertake careful drilling, it is better to start by printing a mark in the intended location. This is the role played by the centre punch. Würth makes a whole series of quality needles available to professionals: discover them without further delay!

A STRIKING TOOL WITH A STEEL POINT CAPABLE OF PERFORATING METALS

The centre punch is a striking tool. It belongs to the family of punches, instruments intended to leave a mark or to pierce parts of all kinds. The needle point, generally made of hardened steel, guarantees you to penetrate very resistant materials, like metal. A score must indeed be:

• precise and without offset, to facilitate impeccable drilling (e.g. aligning drill holes on a machined part)
• powerful enough to leave a distinct mark.

HAMMER OR AUTOMATIC NEEDLES, AT THE TOUCH OF A HAND

At Würth, we have developed several types of centre punch pins, responsible for meeting different needs and working habits. Our online catalogue offers you:

• classic punches, to be struck with a hammer or a mallet
• punches with an ergonomic protective handle, which absorbs vibrations when typing and prevents hand injuries
• automatic centre punches, which engage at the touch of a hand (leaving the other hand free), ensure rapid and meticulous aiming, and are fitted with replaceable tips. Their power can be regulated using a control wheel

CHOOSE THE DIAMETER AND THE PERCUSSION FORCE OF YOUR CENTER PUNCH

Now that you know the different models developed by us and offered on our website, all you have to do is choose the most suitable centre punch. To mark the area of your future drilling with the greatest precision, take a look at these parameters:

• the diameter of the striking surface (10 mm, 12 mm, etc.), the diameter of the body of the needle (11 mm, 17 mm, etc.) and the width of the point (4 mm, 5 mm, etc.)
• the length of the needle (95 mm, 120 mm, 150 mm ...)
• and possibly its percussion force (2 to 5 kg, 6 to 13 kg, 18 to 25 kg…)
